MOONEE PONDS BIKE TRACK READY TO ROLL
19 July 2024
BMX riders can look forward to more sharp corners and hill mounds at the new Fanny Street Reserve Bike Track thanks to the completion of track upgrades at the popular Moonee Ponds park, backed by the Allan Labor Government.
Member for Essendon Danny Pearson today officially opened the track upgrades made possible by a $300,000 investment from the Victorian Government’s Community Sports and Recreation Grants.
Recent track upgrades were in consultation with the nearby community and feature the inclusion of new beginner and intermediate jumps and the removal of gap jumps providing more opportunity for new riders to develop their skills on a safer track.
The track was also designed to open up more areas of the park for public use and to improve pedestrian access to Evans Street.
The Allan Labor Government has invested more than $1.9 billion in community sport and active recreation infrastructure over the past decade.
The Victorian Budget 2024/25 is also providing more than $23 million to continue delivery of community sport and active recreation infrastructure, and programs to increase participation opportunities and improve accessibility.
From new cricket nets to pavilion upgrades, investments like these are all about creating jobs, stimulating local economies, and improving the health, wellbeing, and social outcomes for Victorian communities.
Danny Pearson MP also acknowledged Moonee Valley City Council for its commitment and financial contribution of $270,000 to the project.
